Basics of a Flat Garden Hose
Tired of the hassles of your current garden hose? Consider purchasing a flat garden hose. Flat garden hoses are becoming more and more popular, mainly because they are a snap to store. In addition the flat garden hose takes up much less space than a regular garden hose. A flat garden hose lies flat without water, and expands to the size of a conventional hose when the spigot is turned on. The flat hose works just fine for watering gardens and lawns. One drawback for those that want their hose wound up next to the house and used immediately, the flat hose must unwound completely before it can be used for watering. It also must be fully drained of water for storing..

Another advantage to the flat garden hose is that because it is stored empty and free of water inside, it will resistant freezing and cracking much easier than a conventional garden hose. In addition, a flat hose will be able to withstand normal use as effectively as a conventional garden hose.
There are two basic types of flat garden hoses. The best is made from a tightly woven polyester jacket bonded to an interior lining made from high strength polyurethane. If you are looking to purchase a flat garden hose, consider this type. It is extremely durable and will not kink or crack easily. When wound, it occupies a very small space for storing.
The second varietly of flat garden hose is made from the vinyl material you would find in a conventional garden hose. The advantage is that it will wind to about half the size of a conventional garden hose. Like the more expensive polyurethane model, this hose will also resist cracking and kinking well.
